The best memories donât always come from the farthest places.
Sometimes they live in an ordinary Tuesday, in your own garden, with the people you love most.
Your summer is enough. Exactly as it was.
For children:
When youâre back at school and everyone is sharing their summers, try:
Find your stories. What made you laugh hardest? What surprised you? What will you remember when youâre older?
Remember your moments are yours. Nobody elseâs summer can take them away.
Know that ordinary is enough. The best things are often the ones that werenât even planned.
For grown-ups:
This week, try:
Talking about your summer warmly and specifically - not âwe didnât really do muchâ but the actual story of what happened.
Helping your child find their stories - âWhat was your favourite ordinary day? What was the funniest thing that happened?â
Resisting the urge to apologise for a quieter summer. Children take their cues from how we frame things.
Finding one genuine good moment from these past weeks and naming it, even just to yourself.
đ± A grounding moment - try this together
Sit somewhere comfortable.
Take it in turns to finish these sentences:
âThe thing that made me laugh most this summer was...â
âMy favourite ordinary moment was...â
âSomething I want to remember is...â
Let the stories come. Theyâre in there. đ«¶
