Scarlett woke up one morning with a wobbly feeling.
It wasn’t a tummy ache exactly.
And it wasn’t quite a sad feeling either.
It was just… there.
She sat up in bed and hugged Lenny the Lion, who had been her faithful bedtime companion for as long as she could remember. Lenny’s fur was a little worn, and his smile was slightly crooked, which Scarlett liked, because it meant he didn’t pretend to have all the answers.
Down on the floor, Pudding lifted his head. His tail gave a hopeful thump-thump against the rug.
“Do you feel it too?” Scarlett whispered.
Pudding tilted his head. Then he stood up, stretched very slowly, and trotted over. He pressed his warm little body against Scarlett’s legs and sighed the deepest, happiest sigh.
The wobble didn’t disappear.
But it softened.
Scarlett climbed out of bed and padded to the window. The sky was cloudy, neither bright nor dark. Just undecided.
“I think today feels a bit like that,” she said.
Lenny, of course, said nothing.
But if he could speak, Scarlett was sure he’d say:
Feelings don’t need fixing.
They just need to be noticed.
Scarlett took a breath, not a big, brave one. Just a small one.
Then another.
Pudding suddenly zoomed in a joyful circle, skidded slightly, and landed at her feet, looking very pleased with himself.
Scarlett laughed.
And just like that, she realised something important.
You don’t have to wait for the wobble to go away before you live your day.
You can carry it gently.
And still take the next step.
She picked up Lenny.
Patted Pudding.
And together, they headed off to see what the day might bring.
Not perfectly.
Not bravely.
But curiously.
And that, Scarlett was learning, was more than enough.
🫶 A gentle wonder to share
Have you ever had a day that felt a bit wobbly?
What helps you when that happens?
