One morning, Scarlett woke up and felt… slow.
Not sleepy-slow.
Not poorly-slow.
Just slow.
Her thoughts felt like they were walking instead of running. Her body wanted to stretch and pause and take its time.
Pudding bounced onto the bed, tail wagging, ready for the day.
Lenny sat quietly by her pillow, watching.
“I think I’m behind,” Scarlett said softly.
“Everyone else feels faster than me today.”
Lenny tilted his head.
Pudding flopped down beside her with a sigh.
Scarlett got dressed slowly. She ate her breakfast slowly. Even her steps felt careful, like she was listening to something inside.
At first, she worried.
But then something curious happened.
Because she was moving slowly, she noticed things she usually missed:
the sound of the kettle humming
the way sunlight stretched across the floor
how Pudding’s ears twitched when he dreamed
Nothing was wrong.
She wasn’t behind.
She was just moving at her own pace.
By the end of the day, Scarlett felt calm in a way she hadn’t before.
And when she climbed into bed, she smiled.
“Slow wasn’t a problem after all,” she whispered.
“It was exactly what I needed.”
Lenny smiled back.
Pudding snored.
And the world felt just right.
🫶 Dream big dreams.
